Rajasthan man arrested for raising Pakistan flag

Demanding Union Minister Ajay Mishra’s sacking, the farmers’ group Samyukt Kisan Morcha (SKM) is set to protest in Uttar Pradesh’s Lakhimpur Kheri from today. His son was arrested in connection with the killing of protesting farmers last year.

The SKM has requested all farmers across the country to join the protest from August 18 to August 20 in the city.

Reports said that the farmers will demand the withdrawal of the cases registered against them during the stir against farm laws last year. They will also demand compensation for families of farmers who died during the protest.

According to reports, Bharti Kisan Union (Ekta-Ugrahan) president Joginder Singh Ugrahan has confirmed that they will participate in the dharna in Lakhimpur Kheri.

A senior leader of the Morcha said that around 2000 Punjab farmers left for Uttar Pradesh to participate in the Lakhimpur Kheri protest. Another leader confirmed that around 10,000 Punjab farmers will participate in the protest.

The Lakhimpur Kheri incident occurred on October 3 last year when a group of farmers were protesting against the controversial farm laws. Four farmers were mowed down by an SUV when they were staging a demonstration against the visit of Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya. The farmers alleged that Ajay Mishra’s son was present in the SUV during the incident.
