The Indian women’s hockey team defeat in Birmingham Commonwealth Games 2022 semi-finals is becoming controversial now. Team India lost to Australia and seems like the Indian fans are not going to forget this for a long time, as they didn’t take the drama lightly.

The Indian fans have accused International Hockey Federation for taking ways the chance of women in blue from winning gold.

This came after India was denied chance in the final through pathetic standards of management at such a big sport event. India lost to Australia in semi finals by 3-0 and Indian fans feel the country was denied a chance to claim gold.

For the unversed, all the three Indian shooters missed their chance in the shootout. But Indian women’s hockey team was even more unlucky last night, when Australia’s Malone missed her first attempt after a fine save from Indian and goalkeeper and captain Savita.

But things turned ugly when the officials gave Australia another go even after clock timer was not even started. And during her 2nd attempt she scored a point. Later other two Aussies also scored during the shoot out and that led to their win in the semi-finals with 3-0.

Former Indian cricketer Virender Sehwag also took to Twitter to express his dismay over the matter.

Penalty miss hua Australia se and the Umpire says, Sorry Clock start nahi hua. Such biasedness used to happen in cricket as well earlier till we became a superpower, Hockey mein bhi hum jald banenge and all clocks will start on time. Proud of our girls 🇮🇳pic.twitter.com/mqxJfX0RDq

The Indian team and coach was highly disappointed by the mismanagement of CWG 2022 and even made a strong comment about the incident.

India coach Janneke Schopman broke silence on the shootout drama and said, “I just don’t understand why? Australians were not even complaining. And I don’t think even one player did that. But I think officials understood what happened. However, it’s not an excuse but that didn’t help us for sure.”

Nor the Indian team and neither the Indian fans took the drama lightly. #cheating has been trending on Twitter since last night and tweeple have criticized the mismanagement at the Birmingham Commonwealth Games 2022.
